RAM AIR FOR THE COLD AIR INDUCTION

DESIGNED FOR THE FM-300 AND THE RSA-10 FUEL METERS
The IO-540 and the new roller cam IO-580 available from Lycoming can now get the air needed to maximize the best fuel/air mixture required by the new generation cold air sumps. The faster you go the higher the MP.  You now can have the most efficient system available on the market.

REDUCE DRAG WITH SMALLER COWL INLET AND MAXIMIZE HP GAIN

INTRODUCING THE ALL NEW “3 IN 1” RAM AIR SYSTEM AND DIFFUSER
1. K&N FILTERED air used in ground operations.
2. RAM AIR used in clean air to maximize performance and FUEL ECONOMY.
3. K&N FILTERED AIR in rain and icing. Warm inner cowl air as ALT AIR.

3.5” RAM AIR VALVE OPEN WITH 3.0” TO 3.5” DIFFUSER INSTALLED

2797                                618.7                 329.5                            29.10

3.5” RAM AIR VALVE CLOSED ON FILTERED AIR

2757                                606.4                  318.3                            27.88 (1.22”difference)

It’s interesting to note that there is little difference between velocity stack MP readings and filtered air readings. Factor in that this is static and the relative speed of the aircraft is not considered.  It is reasonable to assume that in actual flight conditions at 200 MPH the option of having pure unobstructed ram air will produce 1.0” to 1.5” gain in MP.
