Actual results are verified on my own RV8 resulting in 1 in. increase in MP @ 200mph. The GPS airspeed on a Harmon Rocket with this system went from 220kts to 227kts. With increased MP at altitude less drag in thinner air will provide:

DESIGN
EVOLUTION
Designed for FUEL INJECTED MOTORS with a FORWARD FACING SUMP.
John Huft was nice enough to share an idea with me using a ram air valve attached to the front of a K&N filter. When the ram air was activated I discovered that the increased Ram Air pressure was too great and resulted in a loss of Manifold Pressure thru the filter into the bottom cowl. This problem was resolved using a canister around the filter to capture the extra BOOST pressure. The aluminum canister has four 2” reed valves that allow warm filtered inner cowl air to be used. Filtered air is used on the ground during take off and in icing conditions. The valve can be operated after takeoff when clean air is available.
This is now a complete “SELF CONTAINED ALUMINUM RAM AIR SYSTEM” that is totally rubber shock mounted. K&N has a service kit, and replacement is not a factor.
The ALUMINUM systems are available with pricing starting at $850. Discounts are available as a “SHOW SPECIAL” on (fiberglass systems $500)
